Privacy Policy
Effective Date: September 13, 2026
Random Movie Generator (“we”, “our”, “us”) operates https://randommovie.org (the “Website”). This Privacy Policy explains what we do and do not collect when you use it.
The short version
You do not need an account to use the Website. We only receive information that identifies you if you choose to include it in the optional email or feedback forms. We do use Google Analytics to understand how the Website is used, and Google Analytics sets cookies to do that.
Information we collect
No personal information by default. There is no sign-up, no login, and no profile. Nothing you do on the Website is tied to your identity unless you choose to give us your email address or include identifying details in feedback, as described below.
Email you give us. If a movie search comes up empty and you fill in the “Notify me” form, we store your email address, the filters you had selected at that time, and the two-letter country code Cloudflare provides. We do not record your IP address or create a browser fingerprint. We use this only to send you one email if we later find a movie matching those filters, and we do not add you to a marketing list. To have this information deleted, email help@randommovie.org.
Feedback you send us. If you use the Feedback button, we store the message you write, the Website page you sent it from, the time it was sent, and a random submission ID used to prevent duplicate submissions. We also send a copy to help@randommovie.org using Cloudflare Email Service and store the email’s sending status and message ID. The form does not ask for your name or email, and we do not attach your IP address, device details, or a browser fingerprint. Please do not include personal or sensitive information in your message. We use feedback only to understand problems and improve the Website.
Analytics data. With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymous usage information: pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, browser and device type, and how you arrived at the Website. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes your IP address for this purpose. We read this only in aggregate.
Data stored in your browser. We store two small values in your browser’s local storage: your cookie consent choice and your light or dark theme preference. These never leave your device and are never sent to us. Clearing this site’s browsing data removes them.
We do not collect precise location data, and we do not build advertising profiles or audience lists.
Cookies and consent
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. On this Website they are used for analytics and, if advertising is introduced, for advertising.
Where consent is required, you will see a banner on your first visit. Analytics cookies are not set until you accept. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Cookies link in the footer.
Advertising
The Website does not currently display advertising.
We intend to apply to Google AdSense. If and when ads are shown, third-party vendors including Google will use cookies, web beacons, device identifiers, and IP addresses to serve and measure ads on this Website, including ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. Google’s use of advertising data is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, and out of other vendors’ advertising cookies at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu. This section will be updated, with a new Effective Date, when ads go live.
Who receives your data
We do not sell your data and we do not share it with anyone for their own purposes. Cloudflare hosts the Website, stores submitted feedback, and sends feedback notification emails to our support mailbox. Google receives analytics data as described above and, in future, advertising data. Google processes that data under its own Privacy Policy.
Film information shown on the Website is fetched by us in advance from TMDB and Wikidata, so browsing does not send your details to either of them. Film posters, however, are loaded directly from TMDB’s image servers, which means your browser makes a request to TMDB whenever a poster is displayed.
Children’s privacy
The Website is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices

Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and change the Effective Date above. We do not maintain a mailing list for policy updates, so please check this page if you want to stay current.
